This page is a compilation of the items that were in the time capsule.

Residents will be invited to collect items to be placed in the Millennium Time Capsule to represent life in 2026 for future openings.

The Millennium Time Capsule will be re-sealed on August 15, 2026.

Healthcare Items

Donated by the Picture Butte Health Centre.

Medicine and Healthcare are constantly changing as are the ways in which the medical services are offered to the public. Items such as the weekly residents' menu and activity calendar show just a small part of what life was like for patients in Picture Butte in the year 2000. The X-ray of Nursing unit manager Linda Ballermann's hand may prove to be a curious example of obsolete technology to the healthcare professionals of 2025.

The Sunny South News

The first two issues of August 2000 of the weekly community newspaper should be an interesting read for the people of the future. Cigarettes

Donated by an anonymous smoker.

"Smokes" may still be around in 25 years, but we question if they will be herein 100 years. Just in case the people in the future have no idea what they are, we offer a brief description. Popular throughout the 20th century, smoking tobacco in cigarette form began to lose wide spread acceptance in the 1990's. Heavy taxation, numerous health concerns, and restrictive smoking laws are all combining to make cigarettes less and less popular.
