Unsightly Property Bylaw

The purpose of the Unsightly property Bylaw is to ensure that privately owned properties and adjacent areas are in order to promote a safe and enjoyable environment for residents.

Our Municipal Enforcement Officer completes regular inspections of yards, alleyways and sidewalks to ensure compliance.

Reasons to keep properties clean and cut: 

  • Removes potential pest habitats.
  • Lessons likelihood of fire. 
  • Can increase property values. 
  • Helps to keep potentially noxious, and prohibited noxious, weeds out to protect the environment.
  • Removes potential hazards for emergency crews, and others. 
Sidewalk

Reasons to keep alleyways and sidewalks clear:

  • Removes potential pest habitats. 
  • Keeps the area clear for utility crews, town crews, and emergency crews. 
  • Allows for safe use of sidewalks for all. 
  • Can increase property values. 
  • Lessens the likelihood of fires. 

How to Report Unsightly Properties

If you have questions, concerns, comments or would like to report a potential unsightly property or area, please contact our Municipal Enforcement Officer. 

Please note that for any inquiry or complaint to be made officially, it must be submitted by contacting bylaw@picturebutte.ca, calling the Town Office or by filling the complaint form out in the Town Office in person.
