Electric Vehicle Chargers
Electric Vehicle Chargers are now available in Picture Butte!
Situated in the Cor Van Raay & Community Aquatic Centre parking lot are a new level 2 and level 3 EV charger. These chargers were funded by the Municipal Climate Change Action Centre (MCCAC) which is a partnership between Alberta Municipalities, the Government of Alberta and the Government of Canada. This funding provided $110,000 to purchase and install the two EV chargers.
A level 3 charger will allow an electric car owner to charge their vehicle to 80% in about 30 minutes while a level 2 charger takes about 4 to 10 hours. The rates are set by the Town of Picture Butte and can be seen on plugshare.com.
When asked about the electric charges Mayor Cathy Moore said, “We’re happy, excited and honored to have these electric chargers in Town. We hope that it attracts electric vehicle owners to our Town and we hope they visit our thriving businesses. We are thankful for the Government of Alberta and Government of Canada for providing the funds through MCCAC so that we can add this service for people that come to Picture Butte.”
The chargers can be viewed on most online websites like plugshare.com. Currently Picture Butte is the only municipality in the County of Lethbridge, outside the City of Lethbridge, to offer electric vehicle charging stations.
