News Release: NEW LED LIGHTS INSTALLED IN NORTH COUNTY RECREATION COMPLEX
The Municipal Climate Change Action Centre (MCCAC) offers municipalities grants to reduce their energy consumption and greenhouse gas emissions from recreation facilities. The Town has been successful and has been approved to install LED lights throughout the North County Recreation Complex (arena). This work has been completed and is expected to have an annual reduction of our electricity usage by about 97,000 kWh per year or in other terms about $7,000 in annual energy costs. With the MCCAC grant the Town expects to be able to recoup their investment into the LED lights within 2 years of normal operations.
The Town is excited for this improvement to our arena. It was made possible by the grants being offered by MCCAC. We will continue to support initiatives that help municipalities reduce their overall costs and become more efficient and better stewards of our environment.
